Tessa can’t sleep.

But when your parents are dead and the government directs your path in life, sleep shouldn’t come easily. Lately, Tessa’s fitful nights are growing even more predictable, almost like déjà vu. And she’s beginning to think that something greater is at work—something her society has taken drastic measures to keep hidden.

Caught between self-discovery and government conformity, she’ll have to choose either the boy who can help her reveal this new truth or the one that can provide her with the security of familiarity.

Tessa’s faced with a weighty decision. And she’s going to need more than a good night’s sleep to make it.

Author Interview:
1) Do you have a favorite go to writing snack?
I'm not a big snacker--more of a full meal, meat and potatoes kind of gal. When I'm writing I usually have a drink in hand, and that's almost always a large Diet Coke. If I'm writing at night, a glass of white wine is my go-to.

2) Which do you prefer more, character building or world building and why?
After writing both Traced and Recruited (part two in the series), I have to say I prefer character building. While I love the world in which Tessa lives, it takes so much to really convey exactly how it operates and functions in my head on paper. What I adore about character building is that it's a process, and many times the characters are discovering certain things about themselves at the same time as the reader. Every time I write a new character, I feel like I'm making a new friend, and that is one of the things I love about being an author.

3) If you could have a cup of coffee/tea with any author or fictional character, who would you choose and why?
That is a hard question. I'd love to have coffee with so many characters, but since I'm reading the Mortal Instruments books right now, I'd say Jace. I adore his quick wit and would just love to sit and listen to him talk. And since he's a fictional character, I think my hubby would be totally okay with my coffee date crush.

4) What character quality do you like most about Tessa?
I like that Tessa is quirky. There are multiple times throughout Traced where she completely humiliates herself, and I like that it makes her more real and human. She's a teenage girl going through a huge self discovery, but she's also experiencing typical teenage things and is placed in awkward situations that I hope make her relatable and endearing.

5) What, if anything, do you hope readers will take away from TRACED?
Without giving too much away, I really want the reader to experience the discovery that things might not always be what they seem. So often we think one thing is in control--guiding our actions and decisions--but like Tessa realizes, everything might actually happen for a very different reason. Life may not be as haphazard as we think, and the interconnectedness that occurs in Traced illustrates that.

6) What's the last book you read and loved?
I'm right in the middle of the Hush, Hush series and I'm loving it so far. The whole angelic realm is something so intriguing to me, and I love a good forbidden romance!  Welcome to the home of TeamPatch! I was Patch's advocate in last summer's YACrushTourney. :D

Thanks Megan!
