BEA2014 Recap Part III: The People

The parties are fun and the books are great, but the real reason I go to BEA is for these... I'm kidding! It's the people. Authors, Editors, Publicists and Bloggers, THEY are the reason I check my couch cushions for spare change, sell cupcakes, and forgo opening actual presents on my birthday and Christmas, because I'd rather have the funds to put toward a trip to spend time with bookish friends! Over the past few years, I've had the chance to friend a lot of people online and last week gave me the chance to meet and hug many of them IRL (In real life). A few even got cupcakes.  I'm just going to apologize NOW because I KNOW there where be people I left out. Please know it's not intentional. It's because I'm old.  Here is a selfie sampling of who I met.  Brooke - The Cover Contessa Danielle - Love At First Page Jenna - Jenna Does Books The GORGEOUS Meg - Cuddlebuggery.  I've had the pleasure of know...

BEA2014 Recap Part II: The Parties

Last year's BEA was all about the experience.  This year was all about the parties which is cool because yeah, I like to party!  Except my parties usually look like this...    I was a little nervous about whether I would actually stay AWAKE for all of the parties. I did. And I have the Instagram pictures to prove it.  Party #1: Wednesday: Epic Reads - Party like a Book Nerd! *does a book shimmy* We ate, we drank (soda for me), played an epic game of book trivia led by Team Time girls, Aubry and Margot and rubbed elbows with some of Harper's coolest authors - Garth Nix, Anna Carey, Michael Grant, Danielle Paige, Leslie Conner, and Corey Ann Haydu just to name a few!  Aubry & Margot explaining the book trivia game. Aubry and Margot also premiered the new Epic Reads video series called, BOOK NERD PROBLEMS!   And of course, there were the selfies... Anna Carey and Me. @ ReadingTeen , Me, @ Reader_F...

BEA2014 Recap Part 1: The Purpose

Book Expo Of America 2014 Recap I've been to NYC several times this year already, but last Tuesday my purpose was Book Expo of America 2014. This year I road tripped it to BEA with Andye from Reading Teen and Hannah from The Irish Banana. I packed for my trip accordingly; comfy clothes, cute shoes and cupcakes. 8 dozen to be exact.  We headed to Brooklyn first to hang out until it was time to check into our hotel.  We visited the Brooklyn Bridge Park, walked the Promenade and ate pizza in a restaurant that played Michael Jackson songs the entire time. I did what any self-respecting child of the 80s would do, and danced in my chair to Billy Jean and Beat It much to the horror amusement of Hannah and Andye.  After lunch, Hannah left to meet up with Nicole from Paperback Princess while Andye and I walked the Brooklyn Bridge and took in the amazing view of the NYC skyline. We wandered around for a little while longer until we found a goo...
