Guest Post/Author Interview with Jillian Dodd

What do you think makes a good story?  I’ve been an avid reader. Books havealways been an amazing way to escape my life and live someone else’s for a littlewhile. For me, if I fall in love with the characters andinvest in them emotionally,it’s a good book.

What was different while writing STALK ME as compared to other books you’ve
written? Challenges?  Because Stalk Me is the first of a six book series, there wasa huge amount of planning that went on prior to the first book’s release. My bookstend to be character driven and this series has a lot of characters. Each charactergot their own character profile, their own character arc. I also did a ton of researchfor this series. My notes and research on real life stalking cases, sociopaths, personal security firms, and boarding schools could fill a book of their own. Itraveled to Malibu for more research. I tried to live out a day in Keatyn’s life. Ishopped where she shopped. Went to restaurants she…

Just One Day by Gayle Forman
Publication: January 8, 2013
By: Dutton Juvenile

From Goodreads:

A breathtaking journey toward self-discovery and true love, from the author of If I Stay

When sheltered American good girl Allyson "LuLu" Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

How do you find your place in the world?

Tired of watching her father flit from one wife to another and having formed a true bond with her most recent stepmother, Natalia decides to move with her from Spain to Florida when the divorce papers are finalized.

There are a couple things Natalia knows for sure: 1) She's being groomed to take over her father's international business. Success is expected. 2) There is no such thing as true love. Just look at her father. 3) Her stepmother's faith is real. And Natalia wants more of it.

Being in a new place, though, has a way of challenging one's preconceived notions. Natalia is still searching but before it's over, she hopes to discover right where she belongs.

Ten Bookish Things I'm Thankful For
1. Book Boys. *shrugs*  Especially the ones who Tweet me. ;)

2. Author Interviews. Thank you to all of the authors who've taken the time to do an interview with me! I had fun getting to know more about the brain behind the book. :)

3. Author Signings/Meet & Greets. I went to several of these this year and it's a little like meeting a celebrity. There's that sense of awe and of course, awkwardness because if I'm around, I can guarantee "awkward" isn't too far behind.

4. Author Assistants/Publicists. These are the hard working people behind the scenes who help make an author's job a little easier and help fans connect through fansites, contests, and giveaways. I owe a special thanks to a certain taco making angel for the friendships I've made with Jenn and Rebecca from FallenArchangel.com. ;)

5. YABC. Besides getting to know amazeball people like M.G, Jill, Claire, C.J., Erica, Christina and Kim, also having…

A new YA fantasy from award-winning author of SCARS and HUNTED Cheryl Rainfield.

Visions can kill you. Would you risk your life to save someone else’s?

Kate sees psychic visions of the future and the past—but only when she's having an asthma attack. When she "sees" her sister being beaten, she needs more visions to try to save her, along with a suicidal classmate—but triggering her asthma could kill her. Parallel Visions is the story of one brave, caring girl whose unusual gifts put her own life in danger.

This is a quick read about Kate, a lifelong asthma sufferer who sees visions whenever an attack strikes.  She's able to see the past as well as the future, but her ability doesn't do a lot of good when no one believes that what she sees is real.

How cool is this cover?!

What if your life wasn’t your own?

Liv comes out of a coma with no memory of her past and two distinct, warring voices inside her head. Nothing, not even her reflection, seems familiar. As she stumbles through her junior year, the voices get louder, insisting she please the popular group while simultaneously despising them. But when Liv starts hanging around with Spencer, whose own mysterious past also has him on the fringe, life feels complete for the first time in, well, as long as she can remember.

Liv knows the details of the car accident that put her in the coma, but as the voices invade her dreams, and her dreams start feeling like memories, she and Spencer seek out answers. Yet the deeper they dig, the less things make sense. Can Liv rebuild the pieces of her broken past, when it means questioning not just who she is, but what she is?

Thank you Entangled Teen for this…

Excerpt:
Group memos like this one find their way into my inbox almost every day and are
typically filled with nothing more than boring office news. An announcement about Sally-so-and-so’s upcoming retirement, or a notice about Joe-shmoe’s birthday next week. Nothing unusual or earth shattering. This particular memo started out that way, nothing worth panicking over. That is, until I arrived at the second paragraph and came to the two little words that currently have me in a choke hold.
Two. Little. Words.
