Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.

Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.

But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

*This book is recommended for readers 18 and over*

~ My Thoughts ~

Reece + Roxy = ⚡️

An MC who wears glasses and shirts with nerdy sayings?

Btw, if Fall With Me were made into a movie, I vote Zoey D play the part of Roxy. And Theo James could play the part of Reece. I know, I know, he was the inspiration for Jax in Stay With Me, but let's be honest. Theo could be cast as all the heroes in all of the Wait For You series book-to-screen adaptations, I wouldn't mind.

I love all of JLA's stories but this one---well, this one kind of freaked me out a little. In fact, the following gifs represent my reaction while reading...

What---is going on right now?

Wait. Is that...OMG WHAT?!

Yeah, okay, I'll just be over here in my safe place---hiding.

As with the other books in this series, I enjoyed the characters, fast pace, the relationships forged and of course the romance, but what really stood out was the creep factor. The stalker element kicked this up a notch from romantic suspense to "sleep with the lights on". On more than one occasion, I found myself wanting to cover my eyes and read through my fingers. There may have also been some yelling at the characters too.
Read it.

~ Excerpt ~

Someone—was it Melvin?—catcalled as Reece led me down the hall, and my cheeks flushed. “Okay, heman, I can walk all by my little self.”
He cast a look over his shoulder at me as he opened the office door. “I’m sure you can.”
Then he pulled me inside.
My gaze flipped to the roses—the roses!—but before I could say a word, he closed the door and my back was pressed against it, his hands planted on either side of my head and his face right in mine. Like right there, within kissing distance.
“So, I was at my father’s place in New Jersey most of the day, and you know, he lives out near the Pine Barrens, so service is shit.”
I nodded even though I really wasn’t processing what he was saying as I was too busy staring at his mouth. Those lips, fuller on the bottom, drove me to distraction.
“I pull out of his driveway and I have all these messages from Dennis,” he continued, and I finally caught on to what he was talking about. “I honestly thought he was messing with me at first.”
I cringed. “He . . . um, he wasn’t.”
He shot me a bland look. “That much I figured out.” His hands slid on the door, stopping just shy of touching my shoulders. “What did he do to you?”
“What?” I blinked.
“What did that bastard do to make you throw a book through his windshield?”
Oh. Oh. My heart was now wiggling along with my stomach. “He really didn’t do anything. I just lost my cool. He wanted to talk to me, and I didn’t want to talk to him.”
“You don’t have to talk to him.”
“That’s what Dennis said, but I shouldn’t have damaged his car.”
A muscle flexed along his right jaw. “That’s true.” He shook his head. “Damn, Roxy, can’t say I’m surprised.”
My brows flew up. “You’re not?”
He laughed under his breath. “Babe, you’ve always had a hell of a temper on you.”
Ah, that was kind of true. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
Reece cocked his head to the side. “A sexy thing, but vandalism and destruction of property doesn’t look good on you, sweets.”
“No. It doesn’t match my manicure.” I raised my hands, flashing him the blue nails.
He laughed again and then he sobered up, just like that. Cop Face was on, and yeah . . . the low coiling in my stomach told me I found Cop Face arousing. “You’re lucky. He could’ve pressed charges, and this conversation would be going in a whole different direction.”
My own half smile slipped off my face. “I know. It’s . . . I was just with Charlie, and he’s . . .” Unable to continue, I forced a casual shrug I didn’t feel. “What are you going to do with me?”
His lips parted as his chest rose with a deep breath, then his gaze dropped to my mouth, and his expression tightened. He looked . . . he looked hungry. “I have lots of ideas.”

I am no longer able to word, so here are my thoughts in gifs...

Having to wait an ENTIRE YEAR to find out what happens is going to be torture.

Favorite Scene: When Arin shows up in the music room.

Favorite Quote: "He sailed home." That noise you heard was the sound of my own heart shattering into a million tiny pieces.

As a general's daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin's eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him with unexpected consequences. It's not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner's Curse is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

Book two of the dazzling Winner's Trilogy is a fight to the death as Kestrel risks betrayal of country for love.

The engagement of Lady Kestrel to Valoria’s crown prince means one celebration after another. But to Kestrel it means living in a cage of her own making. As the wedding approaches, she aches to tell Arin the truth about her engagement…if she could only trust him. Yet can she even trust herself? For—unknown to Arin—Kestrel is becoming a skilled practitioner of deceit: an anonymous spy passing information to Herran, and close to uncovering a shocking secret.

As Arin enlists dangerous allies in the struggle to keep his country’s freedom, he can’t fight the suspicion that Kestrel knows more than she shows. In the end, it might not be a dagger in the dark that cuts him open, but the truth. And when that happens, Kestrel and Arin learn just how much their crimes will cost them.

Girl Underwater by Claire Kells

Girl UnderwaterAuthor: Claire Kells
Publication: March 31, 2015
By: Dutton
Audiobook: Penguin Random House
Amazon | Audible | B&N | Goodreads

An adventurous debut novel that cross cuts between a competitive college swimmer’s harrowing days in the Rocky Mountains after a major airline disaster and her recovery supported by the two men who love her—only one of whom knows what really happened in the wilderness.

Nineteen-year-old Avery Delacorte loves the water. Growing up in Brookline, Massachusetts, she took swim lessons at her community pool and captained the local team; in high school, she raced across bays and sprawling North American lakes. Now a sophomore on her university’s nationally ranked team, she struggles under the weight of new expectations but life is otherwise pretty good. Perfect, really.

That all changes when Avery’s red-eye home for Thanksgiving makes a ditch landing in a mountain lake in the Colorado Rockies. She is one of only five survivors, which includes three little boys and Colin Shea, who happens to be her teammate. Colin is also the only person in Avery’s college life who challenged her to swim her own events, to be her own person—something she refused to do. Instead she’s avoided him since the first day of freshman year. But now, faced with sub-zero temperatures, minimal supplies, and the dangers of a forbidding nowhere, Avery and Colin must rely on each other in ways they never could’ve imagined.

In the wilderness, the concept of survival is clear-cut. Simple. In the real world, it’s anything but.

Story: 5 STARS.

This book was fantastic and would make an awesome movie!

Compelling, engrossing and heart-wrenchingly romantic, GIRL UNDERWATER is a story of survival, strength and hope. (Colin Shea is one of the best book guys you'll ever meet.) It unfolds through alternating chapters of "Now" and "Then" which are seamlessly woven together, giving readers the complete picture by book's end. I spent the last 1/4 of the book with my heart lodged in my throat, but that epilogue made it all worth it.

One of the most enjoyable things about GIRL UNDERWATER is it's crossover appeal. Avery is 19, putting her in the New Adult category, BUT this story could easily be read---and enjoyed---by readers of upper YA and Adult.

Audiobook: I began this book on audio and while I thought Julia Whelan did an okay job, it was not my favorite. I'm glad I had a physical copy to fall back on.

By: Avon Impulse

Years ago, golden-boy Kyle Archer left Ribbon Ridge without a word. Now, with heartbreak on the verge of tearing his family apart, the black sheep is back and he’s determined to earn their trust by uncovering the truth behind Alex’s death. And as they piece together Alex’s last days, their undeniable chemistry turns too hot to ignore. After their relationship becomes more serious than either anticipated, Kyle may be forced to choose between the woman he’s desperate to hold on to and the family he almost let slip away.

*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

This was my first Darcy Burke book and as far as adult contemporary romance goes, I liked it. The issues surrounding Kyle's departure and return were unique and interesting. I did struggle a bit to keep track of all the secondary characters, but overall, an enjoyable story.

The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

The Start of Me and YouAuthor: Emery Lord

By: Bloomsbury

3.75 Stars

Following her pitch-perfect debut Open Road Summer, Emery Lord pens another gorgeous story of best friends, new love, & second chances.

Brimming with heartfelt relationships and authentic high-school dynamics The Start of Me and You proves that it’s never too late for second chances.

It’s been a year since it happened—when Paige Hancock’s first boyfriend died in an accident. After shutting out the world for two years, Paige is finally ready for a second chance at high school . . . and she has a plan. First: Get her old crush, Ryan Chase, to date her—the perfect way to convince everyone she’s back to normal. Next: Join a club—simple, it’s high school after all. But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max, moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!) her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to live?

*I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Thank you, Lizzy Mason for sending me an early copy of this!

I went into The Start Of Me And You with a mix of trepidation and excitement. This has been one the most hyped books on my radar over the past few months, and I was terrified of being "that one person" who it fell short for. And I'll be honest, this book left me feeling really frustrated. I'll touch on that in a minute, but first, here's what I thoroughly enjoyed...

The writing, the characters, the family dynamic and the friendships. Oh, and Max. I LOVED that he wasn't the stereotypical YA book boy! NERDS FOR THE WIN!

I liked that Paige pushed herself to try new things and had friends who support her. We should all be so fortunate to have a close-knit group of friends where secret crushes, jealousy, hurt feelings or long lasting riffs do not exist, especially once you introduce boys into the equation. There were times however, when I felt like the lack of issues within the group (P/R/T) wasn't entirely realistic, but whether this was/is your experience with friendships or not, stories like this are NEEDED because they infuse the world of YA with positivity and hope.

(FTR, my own HS experience with a guy/girl group of friends looked more like an episode of 90210--the original---than this story.)

Paige's preoccupation with the death of her first boyfriend seemed a little much to me. Yes, I *got* that people were making it difficult for her to move on, but still. It would have made more sense if they had been dating longer than a couple of months or if she had witnessed his death. For me, the scene with Paige and Max at the Y was more poignant than the trampoline party. That felt like it was added as a reminder that she hadn't gotten closure yet.

Speaking of Max, I REALLY enjoyed watching his relationship with Paige develop. The closet scene alone made me laugh out loud, but I wanted more at the end. (And by more, I mean, kissing.) Seriously though, they go through quite a bit before acknowledging their feelings for one another and then---it ends.

Despite my few misgivings, this IS a really good book! Read it.

4 Stars!

If you're a teenager in a small, rural area, how do you exist when your eccentric, free-spirited parents are the town freaks everyone laughs at?

For sixteen-year-old Rainbow Honeywell—or Rain, as she insists on being called—the answer was to become the queen of all pranks. She never wanted to be a troublemaker, but the label quickly stuck when everyone in Huntsville, Kansas, became a target. All she wanted was to deflect the negative attention off her parents, but Rain's plan backfired to the max, landing her in a heap of trouble with the local authorities and expelled from high school.

An unexpected inheritance offers Rain an opportunity for a new beginning when she and her family move across the country to the quaint beach community of Turtle Bay, Florida.

Determined to make the best of her second chance, Rain vows to walk the straight and narrow, hoping her parents will fly under the radar while she soaks up some fun in the sun, sandy beaches, and hot, tanned guys. Unfortunately, she picks the wrong new friends, and a late night party lands her back in the kind of trouble she had been hoping to avoid. As the newbie in town with a record, Rain takes the brunt of the punishment when an unforgiving judge chooses to make an example out of her and slaps her with enough community service hours to keep her busy until she is old and gray.

Facing the harsh reality of paying for the actions of others while atoning for her own past sins, Rain is paired up with Josh Shaw, a judgmental local lifeguard whose love for the beach and the environment is eclipsed only by his distaste for those who trash it. As far as Josh is concerned, Rain is guilty and got what she deserved, regardless of her side of the story. To make matters worse, a tropical storm sits in the Atlantic, threatening to wreak havoc on the small beach community.

Things slowly change as Rain begins to appreciate her surroundings through Josh's eyes, proving she is not the person he thinks she is. Their feelings for one another blossom as the tropical storm grows into a hurricane and bears down on Turtle Bay. With impending danger looming, the small beach community must come together in order to ride out the storm.

* I received this eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I enjoyed this!

It has some of these...

And some of this too...

Oh, and Josh is mine. I claim him.

Moving on...

Fast, fun and sweetly romantic, Turtle Bay is why I love reading YA so much!
Being a teenager is about making mistakes, figuring out who you want to be and how not to die from embarrassment every time your parents talk.
(Am I right?)
It's also about discovering a connection with people, places and life apart from your own, something Tiffany King has captured SO WELL with Rain's story!

Rain meets her match when he meets Josh. They don't hit it off right away, but after being forced to spend time together, they both begin to realize first impressions aren't always the right impressions. She teaches him how to lighten up and he shows her how to accept who she is and where she comes from with no regrets. Watching what unfolds between them made me smile.

If you're looking for a story that will make you laugh, smile and swoon, Turtle Bay is it.

And can a humble missionary woman and an arrogant man find common ground in the face of their biggest fears?

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

This was my first Liz Tolsma book, and while I'm not a huge fan of war stories or even historical fiction, I enjoyed it. (The cover is what originally captured my attention.)

Well-written and beautifully told, I liked how the elements of faith and love were woven throughout the story. The torture was depicted in such a way that the reader gets a visual without the gore. The romance that blossoms wasn't instant or easy. Nor was it far fetched or unbelievable. It felt authentic and real. And in spite of the war aspects, the ending left me with a sense of hope.

My name is Reagan Wilcox: high school senior by day, kick-ass investigative journalist by night. I’ve always loved observing people—especially when they think no one is paying attention.
I thought I was ready to cover any story. Work any angle.
Nothing could have prepared me for what happened that night. I wasn’t ready for what I saw. And I certainly wasn’t ready for him.
I always knew I’d write the headlines.
Now, I just might become one.

  ~ My Thoughts  ~

Action, suspense, mystery and romance, NEVER GONNA TELL is a well-written, expertly crafted story that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. For me, this read a bit older, giving it great crossover appeal to both the upper YA and NA audience.

If you like crime stories, you'll definitely want to check this one out!
