My BEA WARNING Label

Are you going to BEA this year? I am! I can't believe it's only a few weeks away. BEA is a great place to connect with people you only know from social media, not to mention there are BOOKS!  PEOPLE!    BOOKISH PEOPLE!  I love meeting new people but I always feel like I should warn them first.  So here are a few things to keep in mind about me. 1.) I am not a morning person.   At all.  In fact, to expect anything from me other than a grunt of acknowledgment that we're both upright and breathing before I've had a cup of strong coffee is risking life or limb.  Maybe both. (It took my mother 20 years to figure this out.) You have been warned.  2.) I'm actually pretty shy until you get to know me.  And then you can't shut me up.  Also, I can be, well... I am.    Just ask the people that know me best.    3.) My awkward goes on high alert when I'm nervous. ...
This is my version of Top Ten Tuesday... Top Ten Reasons to do CampNaNoWriMo 1. Parachuting out of your comfort zone and into Try Something New Landia! Because that's always fun and not the least bit terrifying. 2. Get a jumpstart on that book everyone keeps telling you to write. (Btw, they tell you this because they enjoy your FB status updates and your Tweets. They just haven't realized yet that your wit and amazing sense of storytelling is limited to 140 characters. After that it's all downhill.) 3. You meet some fantastic people who are also taking this journey with you! They will encourage you, praise you and even YELL AT YOU to get your AIC (Ars In Chair) which is completely motivating and not at all scary.  4. No pesky bugs to deal with and no worries that someone will steal your underthings and fly them from the flagpole. 5. You get to word sprint which is way more fun than real sprinting, trust me. No sweating, heel spurs or worryin...
When I Grow Up... Hanging out with an 8 year old all day means lots of interesting conversations and one that seems to be on repeat is, "I wanna be a (insert occupation) when I grow up."   So far, he's come up with a Spy, Navy SEAL, Police Officer, Boy Band Member...pretty much anything that will involve doing stunts, a weapon and cool hair.   This got me thinking about all the things I wanted to be when I grew up and when I shared some of these with the boys , both seemed genuinely shocked to discover that Motherhood and Homeschooling were not a lifelong ambition of mine. What did I want to be when I grew up? Here are a few that gave me a good laugh...   1. A Solid Gold Dancer 2. Soul Train Dancer 3. Fly Girl on "In Living Color" - notice a pattern here? 4. Flight Attendant 5. Veterinarian 6. Pilot 7. Princess - Thank you Disney for giving me false expectations about pretty much everything. 8. FBI Agent    9. A ma...
