Book Description:

Up until now, Nicole's life has been mapped out for her. She'd go to college, marry Jake and become the upstanding minister's wife. When she leaves that life to begin again in a small town in Texas, she finally has the freedom to live as she chooses. There, she meets Kent, a guy whose charm and passion make it hard to stick to her morals.
Dodging his fatherā€™s fists and protecting his twin sister made Kent into the man he is today. He learned by watching his mother stay by his fatherā€™s side that itā€™s better to keep relationships simple. Then he meets Nicole. Her sweet smile and genuine response to him land like punches to his resolve. After a lifetime of learning to protect his heart, can he finally let down his guard?

Book Trailer:

Excerpt:
Kent stretched languidly as he drifted out of sleep the next morning. Heā€™d gone out with Rich for a few more beers after theyā€™d dropped off Roniā€™s stuff, but he didnā€™t feel any worse for it.
He slowly opened one eye, happy for the blackout curtains heā€™d hung in his bedroom.
He was not a morning person.
He glanced over at the clock, his forearm brushing against the empty sheets next to him,
and he wondered how long it had been since heā€™d had a woman in his bed.

Sh*t, at least since Roni had come to town and squatted in his house. Well, now that she
had moved out and he had his space back, he would have to remedy that.

His mind wandered to Briana, and he wondered how she was doing in Austin. He
couldnā€™t help but smile.

Although he was sad that sheā€™d taken Colin back and had moved away, he couldnā€™t help
but be proud that sheā€™d followed her dreams. He could think of her now without feeling sad. He knew that sheā€™d never really been his to lose, but heā€™d still felt bereft when sheā€™d told him she didnā€™t want to see him anymore.

He wasnā€™t naĆÆve enough to think that heā€™d loved her, but he knew that he could have, if
sheā€™d given him the chance.

ā€œOh, well,ā€ he thought as he pushed himself up in the bed and threw his legs over the
side. ā€œNo use wishing for something that was never going to happen. Time to move on.ā€

He sat still for a moment, allowing himself time to wake up, before standing up and
heading into the bathroom to take a shower.

"Clockwork Prince" (The Infernal Devices Book 2) ~ Cassandra Clare

Let's take a moment to drool over, I mean, appreciate the pretty cover, shall we? *sighs* Once again, Cassandra Clare has managed to suck me into her colorful story of adventure, intrigue, love, romance and excruciating heartbreak.  *clutches chest*  Normally, I blast through books in a few hours, but I purposely took my time with this one because I wanted to savor every minute with Will, Jem and Tessa but HOLY CUPCAKE!!  Could you find another way to rip my heart out, do a "stomp the yard" dance on it and throw it back at me with demon pox all over it?!  *clutches chest*  How anyone with a heart can NOT be "Team Will" after this book, I'll never understand but if they aren't, then I say, in the words of giddy Will, "A demonpox on all your houses!" OK, so that's a tad harsh but still. "Clockwork Prince" picks up right where "Clockwork Angel" leaves off, with Tessa still trying to discover who she is and what Mortma...
