4 Stars!

Too many secrets. Not enough time.

Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since itā€™s just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, thatā€™s a survival tactic.

But now heā€™s got problems even his brothers canā€™t help him survive.

His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going quick as mercury from daring to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinnā€™s dancer friend Adam is throwing Nick off balance, forcing him to recognize a truth heā€™d rather shove back into the dark.

He can feel itā€”-the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is starting to find out that sometimes nothing you do can keep the peace.

Thank you K-Teen for this eARC.

What I loved: It's a Merrick boy, do I really need to say more? Yeah, didn't think so, but I will. I really enjoy Brigid's characters (like, really, really, really) as well as her style of alternating POV's because they're so effortless and easy to follow. She isn't afraid to throw in a twist or two either which keeps the story fresh and engaging.

What left me wanting: I was a little heartbroken to discover I never stood a chance with this Merrick. You know, assuming I was a badars seventeen year old fictional character who stood a chance with any of them, but still. ;)

Final verdict: This novella is a Nick appetizer, just enough to hold us over until his full book comes out next year and worth every morsel.

"Clockwork Prince" (The Infernal Devices Book 2) ~ Cassandra Clare

Let's take a moment to drool over, I mean, appreciate the pretty cover, shall we? *sighs* Once again, Cassandra Clare has managed to suck me into her colorful story of adventure, intrigue, love, romance and excruciating heartbreak.  *clutches chest*  Normally, I blast through books in a few hours, but I purposely took my time with this one because I wanted to savor every minute with Will, Jem and Tessa but HOLY CUPCAKE!!  Could you find another way to rip my heart out, do a "stomp the yard" dance on it and throw it back at me with demon pox all over it?!  *clutches chest*  How anyone with a heart can NOT be "Team Will" after this book, I'll never understand but if they aren't, then I say, in the words of giddy Will, "A demonpox on all your houses!" OK, so that's a tad harsh but still. "Clockwork Prince" picks up right where "Clockwork Angel" leaves off, with Tessa still trying to discover who she is and what Mortma...
