The Distance Between Us

Seventeen-year-old Caymen Meyers studies the rich like her own personal science experiment, and after years of observation sheā€™s pretty sure theyā€™re only good for one thingā€”spending money on useless stuff, like the porcelain dolls in her motherā€™s shop.

So when Xander Spence walks into the store to pick up a doll for his grandmother, it only takes one glance for Caymen to figure out heā€™s oozing rich. Despite his charming ways and that heā€™s one of the first people who actually gets her, sheā€™s smart enough to know his interest wonā€™t last. Because if thereā€™s one thing sheā€™s learned from her motherā€™s warnings, itā€™s that the rich have a short attention span. But Xander keeps coming around, despite her best efforts to scare him off. And much to her dismay, she's beginning to enjoy his company.

She knows her mom canā€™t find outā€”she wouldnā€™t approve. Sheā€™d much rather Caymen hang out with the local rocker who hasnā€™t been raised by money. But just when Xanderā€™s attention and loyalty are about to convince Caymen that being rich isnā€™t a character flaw, she finds out that money is a much bigger part of their relationship than sheā€™d ever realized. And that Xanderā€™s not the only one she shouldā€™ve been worried about.

"Clockwork Prince" (The Infernal Devices Book 2) ~ Cassandra Clare

Let's take a moment to drool over, I mean, appreciate the pretty cover, shall we? *sighs* Once again, Cassandra Clare has managed to suck me into her colorful story of adventure, intrigue, love, romance and excruciating heartbreak.  *clutches chest*  Normally, I blast through books in a few hours, but I purposely took my time with this one because I wanted to savor every minute with Will, Jem and Tessa but HOLY CUPCAKE!!  Could you find another way to rip my heart out, do a "stomp the yard" dance on it and throw it back at me with demon pox all over it?!  *clutches chest*  How anyone with a heart can NOT be "Team Will" after this book, I'll never understand but if they aren't, then I say, in the words of giddy Will, "A demonpox on all your houses!" OK, so that's a tad harsh but still. "Clockwork Prince" picks up right where "Clockwork Angel" leaves off, with Tessa still trying to discover who she is and what Mortma...
