About Hard As You Can
Author: Laura Kaye
Publication: February 25, 2014
By: Harper Collins/Avon Books

Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.

Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he's shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister's sake, Crystal can't get too close. Until her job and Shane's mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn't want him to uncover. Too bad. He's exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can--and never let go.

Guest Post-10 Reasons to Love Hero Shane McCallan

Hi guys! I’m super excited to be celebrating the release of Hard As You Can here today! Hard As You Can follows the surviving members of a disgraced Army Special Forces team as they fight to regain their stolen honor, and finds their investigation crossing paths with a waitress willing to do whatever it takes to stay alive and protect her younger sister. For hero Shane McCallan, saving Crystal Dean is a mission he refuses to turn down.

And, as you might imagine, Shane’s heroism endears him to Crystal. So she’s here today to tell you ten reasons why you’ll fall in love with Shane just like she did…

10. He’s gentle. This is not something I’m used to, which made it stand out all the more. In a way, it makes him come off as even stronger than the men I know who are all about brute force…

9. He calls me darlin’ in a southern accent. And it makes me melt every time.

8. He can dance. OMG, can he dance. Dancing with Shane is a full-body experience I’ll never forget, from the way his body pressed against mine to the way his hands held me to the way he controlled my body.

7. He helps me and my sister…without expecting anything in return. Just because it was a good thing to do, the right thing to do. Helping me is one thing, but helping my sick sister, well, that puts you at a whole other level in my book.

6. He respects me. In the way he talks to me, touches me, looks at me, he shows his respect for me more than any man ever has. And that makes it safe for me to consider things with Shane that I wouldn’t with another man.

5. He has the sexiest gray eyes I’ve ever seen. I think I fell in love with him the first time I looked into those gray eyes.

4. He has the most beautiful tattoos. A huge eagle across his back that speaks to the kind of soldier he is. And a heartbreaking winged heart with a dagger on his chest for the memory of a lost loved one. And the way they move atop his muscles…

3. He is an amazing kisser. I’m talking about the kind of kiss you never forget. The kind that makes you feel claimed and adored and loved and desired all at once. And he makes the sexiest little noises, too. And the way he tastes…mmm.

2. He does all kinds of justice to a pair of jeans and a beat-up T-shirt. Oh, my God, the guy is all hard-bodied muscle and soft hair just long enough for pulling.

1. The things he can do with his tongue. Let’s just leave it at that.

So, what do you think? Do you have a favorite reason to love Shane McCallan? Or, if you’ve read the book, do you have another you’d like to add to the list?

Thanks for reading!
Laura

“Edgy, sexy, and full of suspense! A great read from a great new author!”
~J.R. Ward on Hard As It Gets

My Thoughts
Shane and Crystal were both engaging characters with interesting backgrounds and I found their devotion to family endearing.

This has all of the steamy romance as book one but the relationship that unfolds between Shane and Crystal isn't quite as fast or intense as Nick and Becca's (which was totally okay with me), but is no less compelling. Once again I enjoyed the "brotherhood" feeling among the guys and I STILL want Jeremy to get his own book, even if it's just a novella.

Great addition to the Hark Ink series!
