Authors Are Rockstars Tour: Myra McEntire

Welcome to Jenuine Cupcakes!

When I found out I would be hosting Myra McEntire,
I had my own little dance party...

I threw my hands in the air.

Did a little box step.

And then I checked myself before I wrecked myself.

Three Reasons Myra McEntire is a Rock Star:

1) She's written a fantastic time travel trilogy - Hourglass, Timepiece and Infinityglass -

with swoony boys and lots of kissing. Obviously, she has her prioriteis straight.

2) She's easily relateable, openly sharing about her battle with depression.

3) If you stalk follow her anywhere on the interwebs, then you know that's she's entertaining.

4) Kaleb (I know I said, "three", but I do what I want.)

I've yet to meet Myra in person, but it will happen one day (*crosses fingers*) and when it does, there will be much fangirling on my part!

Myra McEntire knows the words to every R&B hit of the last decade, but since she lives in Nashville, the country music capital of America, her lyrical talents go sadly unappreciated. She’s chosen, instead, to channel her “mad word skills” into creating stories.

She’s an avid Doctor Who fan and will argue passionately about which incarnation is the best.

*Interview with Myra McEntire*

Hey Myra!

I can not explain how excited I am to be hosting you! I think the only thing that could top this would be if we actually got to hang out in person while Dr. Dre serenaded us. (Actually, I would probably die right there on the spot.)

You couldn’t die, because if you did we couldn’t impress him with our awesome rap skillz.

By the time this posts,
Infinityglass will be on bookstore shelves. Will this be the final book in the HOURGLASS series or can we expect more?
This is the final book! There are lots of stories left in the world, and a few I’d love to tell, but it’s time to move on. This question brings about The Feels, because I know what happens to all of the characters. I’ll let you break one of the secrets: Lily has a sister in Cuba. AND a brother.

What's up next for you as far as writing goes?
It’s a crazy, crazy fantasy. That is crazy. I’ve been writing and researching it for five years, and it’s completely different in tone and style from any of the Hourglass books. I haven’t figured out if this is a good or a bad thing, but I’m following the story bliss and hoping it all works out.

*Top Ten Random Facts*

1) Least favorite food to eat. (So we know what NOT to serve you for dinner if you ever come over.)
I’m not a big fan of pimento loaf. My mom served that one Christmas Eve (with other sandwich stuff and soups), and I’ve never quite gotten over it. PIMENTO LOAF. I mean, REALLY.

2) Favorite item of clothing in your closet?
HOODIES. They are the working writer’s uniform.

3) If you could sing a duet with any artist (living or dead), who would you choose and what song would you sing?
Eminem. And I think probably, “Endless Love.” I’d like to make him laugh, and giving in to the urge to tickle him could bring about a restraining order.

4) One thing people should know before meeting you in person?
(I always like to warn people that if I am around, awkward is not too far behind.)

I have no idea how to respond to compliments or accept gifts and it makes me super, super awkward. It’s not that I don’t like compliments or gifts, mind you. I’m just bad at them.

5) Favorite Harry Potter character?
Minerva McGonagall. (Myra McEntire.) I wish I could perfect the down-the-nose-admonishing look. Also, that whole transmogrification thing.

6) Most irrational fear you have? (Mine is Oclophobia - Fear of owls.  I had a bad experience.)
You’d better stay away from Hogwarts! Mine is not exactly irrational, but I have nightmares about dementia or some kind of disease that could rob my brain before I get all the stories out.

7) Last concert you attended?
JOHN LEGEND at the Ryman. It was spectacular.

8) Movie you can quote by heart?

When Harry Met Sally! And Wizard of Oz, but my kids get really mad because I sing the songs, too, and I suck at singing. MUCH better dancer.

9) Favorite dessert?

ALL THE DESSERTS. But especially crème brulee. (Even though I’m lactose intolerant.)

10) One person you hope to meet before you die?
J.K. Rowling. But I don’t want to meet her and scream, or just make blubbery noises, or pee my pants and pass out. I want to have coffee, and swipe some DNA from her coffee cup when she’s not looking.

Hey. I don’t write sci-fi for nothing.

  2. Great interview! And Myra is an absolute doll, one of my favorites. I think she might be lying about the gift thing, because I gave her a Tenth Doctor action figure and she had no problem kissing it. LOLOL
